This song reflects what we thought Heathcliff feels about Catherine. Even after he
thinks she will have nothing to do with him because of his social status, he still comes back
and is more in love with her than ever. He is so lonesome for her and it lasts his whole
life. He also wants her even though she is married and has a “new love” and is waiting for
her if he turns her down.
