"Man! I Feel Like A Woman!"

Shania Twain

I’m going out tonight--I’m feelin’ alright
Gonna let it all hang out
Wanna make some noise--really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout

No inhibitions--make no conditions
Get a little outa line
I ain’t gonna act politically correct
I only wanna have a good time

The best thing about being a woman
Is the perogative to have a little fun and...

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy--forget I’m a lady
Men’s shirts--short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild--yeah doin’ it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in on the action--feel the attraction
Color my hair--do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free--yeah to feel the way I feel
Man! I feel like a woman!

The girls need a break--tonight we’re gonna take
The chance to get out on the town
We don’t need romance--we only wanna dance
We’re gonna let our hair hang down

I get totally crazy
Can you feel it
Come, come, come on baby
I feel like a woman

Annotation:

This song emphasizes our critical approach--feminism. Sometimes women think they are in control and can be just like men, then other times they just want to be women. This song could also be how both Catherines feel--sometimes they probably just wanted to let loose and be women, free to make mistakes and be themselves instead of always having to control EVERYTHING.

"I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself"

Nicky Holland

I just don’t know what to do with myself
Don’t know just what to do with myself
I’m so used to doing everything with you
Planning everything for two
And now that we’re through

I just don’t know what to do with my time
I’m so lonesome for you it’s a crime
Going to a movie only makes me sad
Parties make me feel as bad
When I’m not with you
I just don’t know what to do

Like a summer rose
It needs the sun and rain
I need your sweet love to ease all the pain

I just don’t know what to do with myself
I just don’t know what to do with myself
Baby, if your new love ever turns you down
Come back, I will be around just waiting for you
I don’t know what else to do

Annotations:

This song reflects what we thought Heathcliff feels about Catherine. Even after he thinks she will have nothing to do with him because of his social status, he still comes back and is more in love with her than ever. He is so lonesome for her and it lasts his whole life. He also wants her even though she is married and has a “new love” and is waiting for her if he turns her down.
